This right applies only to data processed by automated means and based on your consent or a contract with you.

10. How Long We Retain Your Personal Information

We retain your Personal Information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in
Section 5, “Why We Use Your Personal Information,” or as required to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of Personal Information and the context in which it is processed.

The duration for which we retain Personal Information is determined based on several factors, including:

  • The purpose for which the Personal Information was collected (for example, maintaining your account for as long as it remains active to provide ongoing Services, support, and communication);

  • The nature, volume, and sensitivity of the Personal Information;

  • The potential risk of harm resulting from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure; and

  • Applicable legal, regulatory, or contractual requirements, including statutory retention obligations and limitation periods (for example, Cal. Code Regs., Title 18, § 1698).

In particular, we are required by law to retain certain information for defined periods. For example, we retain basic customer records, including Contact Information and Transaction Information, for at least four (4) years after the end of the customer relationship for financial and tax compliance purposes. Additionally, under California tax regulations (18 CCR § 19141.6), we are required to retain records related to income, which may include Transaction Information and Contact Information, for up to eight (8) years from the due date of the relevant tax return.

Once we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your Personal Information, we will either delete or anonymize it. Where deletion is not immediately feasible (for example, where data is stored in secure backup systems), we will securely isolate such information and prevent further processing until deletion can be carried out.

11. How We Protect your Personal Information

We take the protection of your Personal Information seriously and implement a range of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of data. Our security measures are developed and maintained in accordance with applicable U.S. legal and regulatory requirements, including relevant standards under the Federal Trade Commission Act and other applicable data protection laws.

Despite our efforts, no system for transmitting or storing information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot ensure or warrant the absolute security of your Personal Information, and there is always a risk that unauthorized parties may attempt to access or misuse such information.

You acknowledge and agree that any transmission of information to or through our Services is at your own risk. We encourage you to take appropriate precautions, including using secure networks and protecting your account credentials, when accessing our Services.

12. Cross-Border Transfers

Our servers are primarily located in the United States. As a result, your Personal Information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in other jurisdictions where our Service Providers or Business Partners operate. In some cases, certain information may also be stored locally on the devices you use to access the Services.

Please be aware that data protection laws in these jurisdictions may differ from those in your country of residence and may not provide the same level of protection. In certain circumstances, Personal Information may be accessible to law enforcement or national security authorities in those jurisdictions.

Where we transfer Personal Information outside of the European Region, we take appropriate measures to ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that an adequate level of protection is maintained.

To support lawful cross-border data transfers, we rely on one or more of the following mechanisms:

1. Adequacy Decisions

We may transfer Personal Information to countries that have been recognized by the European Commission, the UK government, or the Swiss Federal Council as providing an adequate level of data protection in accordance with applicable laws (Article 45 GDPR).

2. Data Privacy Frameworks

Where applicable, we may rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (collectively, the “Data Privacy Frameworks”) for transfers of Personal Information to participating organizations in the United States.

3. Standard Contractual Clauses and Other Safeguards

In the absence of an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards under Article 46 of the GDPR, including:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission;

  • Other recognized transfer mechanisms, such as approved codes of conduct or certification frameworks, where applicable.

You may contact us for additional information regarding the specific safeguards we rely on when transferring your Personal Information outside the European Region.

If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from a minor under 16 without appropriate parental or guardian consent, we will take reasonable steps to promptly delete such information and, where applicable, deactivate the associated account.

If you believe that a minor under the age of 16 has provided Personal Information to us without proper consent, please contact us at support@satechi.com We will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

14. How We Update Privacy Policy

We may revise or update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our business operations, legal obligations, or privacy practices. Such updates may be necessary, for example, to address:

  • updates or changes in how we operate or provide our Services;

  • new or updated legal or regulatory requirements; or

  • improvements or adjustments in how we collect, use, or protect Personal Information.

When we make changes, we will provide notice through the Website or other appropriate communication channels. Where feasible, we will provide advance notice before the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective.
